Planning your first release can be daunting, especially if you have to go it alone.
Many artists nowadays haven't the assistance of a manager, a label, publisher, agent etc.
many artists today are self released, self funded and.... self producing.
This is empowering in many ways but there are also a few negatives...
In my own personal journey I have to say I have experienced some, some more major than others, but all part of the process none the less.
The amount of prep before you set on on the endeavour to record a song wether it be a master release or a demo to pitch, it music be planned with accuracy and set in stone to a degree otherwise you are at risk of over spending time and money on something you were not ready for as the end product must be up to standard to display it's full potential.
It can be a bit of a rollercoaster for some, especially in my case as I overthink everything and I am really good at giving myself a hard time.
Constantly telling myself...
"The vocal is weak"
"The guitar is sounding off"
"The song is dragging"
"It's too basic"
And so it goes on...
sometimes the biggest and most vital hurdle to overcome is the one where you ..let it go!
At some point it has to be done, even if you let it be so, to send it to another pair of ears for critical feedback. (Cannot stress enough important this is for clarification and note, picking the suitable candidate for this is as important), choose someone with a musical background if possible, not a bad idea to send it to a music fan who is not musical for an biassed listeners view.
But you have got to be real about this, and that this as your unique creation that it is, it must be handled with care because you are likely linked to it emotionally too.
be careful and overall make sure it goes out in the end, the best version of you!
